BEIJING, May 6 Asia Pulse - The revenue of China's software industry's climbed 27 per cent year on year to 345.4 billion yuan (US$534.2 billion) in the first quarter of 2011 and the growth was 1.3 percentage points higher than that of a year ago, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
In March, the industry generated business revenues of 128.8 billion yuan, up 32.7 per cent year on year, which was 3.1 percentage points higher than the growth in the same period of 2010.
Information technology services, particularly those related to the Internet, reported vigorous growth.
Moreover, 15 sub-provincial cities achieved software business revenues of 174.7 billion yuan in the first quarter of 2011, a rise of 33.3 per cent year on year. The growth marked a growth of 2.3 percentage points from the same period of last year.
Revenues from the software industry in four cities, namely Qingdao, Nanjing, Shenyang, and Xi'an, posted year-on-year growth of over 35 per cent.
In the first quarter of 2011, China's top 100 software companies by business revenue generated software business revenues of 64.8 billion yuan, rising 22 per cent year on year, but the growth rate was 8.8 percentage points lower than in the same period of 2010.
Exports turned around to grow 34 per cent year on year in the first quarter to US$2.6 billion.
