NEW BARRIQUES AT OLD SAUK ROW.(BUSINESS)(MARKET MEMO)(Column)

The fifth local Barriques will open Monday at The Shoppes at Old Sauk Row, owners Matt Weygandt and Finn Berge announced.

The coffee and wine shop, which also offers fresh bakery and made-to-order sandwiches and salads, is moving into space formerly occupied by Cafe Muse in the strip mall at the corner of Old Sauk Road and Junction Road just west of the Beltline.

"We have spent the past 30 days making changes to the interior of the Cafe Muse space giving it the look and feel of our Barriques brand that our customers have come to know and enjoy," Weygandt said in a statement.

Fair Indigo fetes Fair Trade Day

To honor World Fair Trade Day May 12 and support the theme "Kids Need Fair Trade," Fair Indigo announced it is donating all sales that day from its store at 570 N. Midvale Blvd. to education.

Half of the donation will go to local parent-teacher organizations and half to the Fair Indigo Foundation, which provides educational opportunities to children in the developing world.

"People are becoming more conscious of how their purchases affect the world, both socially and environmentally," Bill Bass, CEO of Fair Indigo, which launched its store, catalog and Web site last fall, said in a statement. "Fair Indigo is giving people the ability to help change the world through their clothing purchases by providing stylish clothes that were made fairly by workers who earned a living wage. It makes a big difference in the lives of these workers when customers choose to support fair trade with their purchases."
