A UNION CAN'T RESOLVE THE NATIONWIDE ISSUE OF A SHORTAGE OF NURSES.(MAIN)

I am writing in response to the many recent articles in the Times Union regarding the nursing shortage and attempts by the teachers union to organize nurses at Albany Medical Center.

The union organizers are a vocal minority among the approximately 1,100 nurses at AMC. The organizers are consistently thinking up new issues and new ways to misconstrue the facts about our hospital and nursing -- specifically that a union will somehow solve the nursing shortage and find nurses to occupy the 180 vacancies at AMC.

This is a nationwide problem and it exists at every hospital and every nursing home in our area.
